Solar fish ponds are perfect for controlling the
lights and water features such as fountains. Running a
garden pond is not expensive even if it was run from a
mains power supply. But even so, it is welcome to save
money whenever we can and if you a person that has
concerns over the environment then you would certainly
see the benefits in a solar fish pond.
There is a little bit of confusion when it comes to
solar power and fish ponds. You will need a pump in your
fish pond to purify and allow oxygen into the water
which your fish need. A normal mains power pump would
run constantly, a little like ones inside a tropical
fish tank in your home. This pumps needs to be working
around the clock, if it stops then so does the oxygen
and purification of the system and this will immediately
effect the health of your fish.
Solar pumps on the other hand will store energy when
thy are not in use and they gather this from daylight.
It does not have to be sunny, it just recharges with the
light and will come on when it is either needed or if it
has enough energy for power. The problems with these
solar pumps is that they can only store energy that can
be used for 3-hours. This will mean during the night and
sometimes even in the day the pump will stop.
So when people talk about solar fish ponds they are
talking more about accessories and features. Underwater
lights and surface pond lights can all be powered by a
solar pump. The same can be said for a water fountain
features. They can store energy and will work for three
hours and maybe a little more plus they will work
automatically when direct sunshine is on the solar
panel.
Solar fish ponds make an excellent garden feature and
not only do they save energy, but you are also doing
something that will benefit the environment, and this
has to be a good thing doesn't it?
