Solar Water Pond

Solar water ponds add a really extravagant feature to our gardens. They can breathe new life into even the most mundane gardens and become a centrepiece that you will be proud of.

It's strange to think of the problems gardeners used to have when they were building a garden pond. They had to also take the trouble to install an electricity supply direct from the home which was far from easy. Hiding the wires and cables in the home was a real problem and doing the same outside under the ground causes major disruption. All this work and hassle was just to be able to run a pump in the pond. You need to do this because it adds vital oxygen into the water which assists organisms to grow and filter the water making it habitable for fish and other small creatures. Failure to do this simple function will allow algae and weeds to grow and this will kill off any life in the pond.

But with a solar water pond all is different and here we have a wonderful, effective invention that eradicates the need for long electricity supply cables and the problems that come with fitting it. You can fit a solar water pond up in minutes. There are no complicated instructions to follow. You place the solar panel in a place in your garden that get the most sun, especially in the hottest part of the day. Then it is possible that this position may not be where your garden pond is located. This is not a problem because most solar water pond kits come with around five metres of cable so you can place it as far as fifteen feet away.

There are various reasons why you would need a solar pump in your pond. The first is a pump specifically for aeration as we have already discussed but you can also use them for very attractive water features such as fountains and waterfalls. Most people think that solar power water features will only work when the sun is shining but that's not true. The solar panels can still harvest energy even in cloudy conditions. Even during basic daylight then can recharge the batteries and this will allow them to work during darkness for around three hours.
